Sixth Annual Community Career Fair
The Georgia Department of Labor/Tifton Career Center and Tiftarea Technical College have joined together to sponsor the Sixth Annual Community Career Fair. This event will allow employers and organizations to display their business, talk to graduating students and job seekers, take applications, and interview prospective applicants. ![]()
Backpack Blessings Project
The Tiftarea HR/Employer Committee participated in donating food to the backpack blessing project for needy school children through the Christmas Holidays. The project was sponsored by First Baptist Church in Tifton. The Committee met and organized and packed the donated food that will be distributed to the needy children in their school backpacks.![]()
Drug Free Work Week 2009
The Tiftarea HR/Employer Committee has partnered with area businesses to promote a drug free work week: October 19-25, 2009. Drug-Free Work Week is a dedicated time each year to highlight the benefits that drug-free workplace programs bring to employers, workers and communities. ![]()
Drug Free Work Week proclamation
Today, October 8, 2009, Mayor Jamie Cater signed a proclamation for the City of Tifton, declaring it Drug Free Work Week for the week of October 19, 2009. With this signing was the announcement of a free lunch and seminar for local employers on drug testing programs and employee assistance. ![]()

The Tiftarea HR/Employer Committee hosted a lunch-n-learn at ABAC to share vital information on Seasonal Influenza and H1N1 Influenza (Swine Flu). Mary Key, Infection Control Nurse at Tift Regional Medical Center presented the informative program to the employers at the meeting and answered questions afterward.![]()
Work Ethics Project
The Tiftarea Employer Committee and the Business Education Partnership Committee are working on developing a work ethics project that can be presented in the school systems. The project will encompass these categories falling under work ethics: Attendance, Character, Teamwork, Appearance, Attitude, Productivity, Organizational Skills, Communication, Cooperation, Respect, Substance Abuse, and Safety. ![]()
